Moree Water Ski Club News & Updates

Moree Ski Park a step closer

The Moree Water Ski Club (MWSC) executive met on Tuesday and the main item of discussion was the possibility of building a ski lake complex 12 klm south of Moree in the vicinity of the new Waste Management Facility. As you are all aware the Moree Plains Shire Council MPSC is required to cease releasing the spent artesian pool water (SAPW ) into the river as soon as possible. Consequently a pipeline plan to pump the water to evaporation ponds and then desalinate and make available for industry is been developed by MPSC.

Mr Murray Erbs Director of Engineering and Mr Dave Wolfenden who are both from MPSC were in attendance gave an update of the situation and indicated that it is likely that water will start pumping in October next year.

The MWSC executive has completed a business and capital expansion plan that identifies a significant opportunity to develop these ponds into a first class ski lake facility the town can be proud of.

It is planned to present the plan and seek councils and the communities support at a council meeting within the month. At this time the MWSC will be going public with its proposal and all club members who would like a copy of the summarized plan are requested to e mail moree@tyrepower.com.au

Southern QLD Malibu Series
A part of the MWSC plan is to hold rounds of the Qld southern series and Northen NSW series so if you want to get an idea as to how all this runs nominate for Goondiwindi on the 12th and 13 th of December. If you have never had a go then now is your chance. All new skiers start in division 6 and you are scored on how close you get to the buoys. I you want to know more information then call Glen Henderson on 0429 663360

The MWSC will be supplying the slalom course on the day go up and have a go or at the very least a look. All MWSC club members are invited to participate.

Offer of a ski dam for local club event
Kelly Humphries who has a bore fed irrigation dam about 40 klm west of Moree has offered his dam to the club to run a club event on the weekends. The club has applied to register each of these events with AWWF so that all participants including Kelly are insured. Kelly has requested that there not be a heap of vehicles running around the farm so Reynolds & Foggerty have offered a 28 seater bus for the clubs use at a discounted rate of $5.00 a head. The plan will be to set up the course after Goondiwindi and then run a day each weekend for Dec and January. The plan is to have two boats on site at a time one running the course and the other teaching learners. So stay tuned the plan is to have the first club event on the 19th or 20th of December.
